Why Am I A Massage Therapist

DSC04714-1I get asked this question a lot, and that makes sense.  People want to know why people do what they do.

I do not think my story is that much different than many massage therapists, but maybe I am wrong.

I was into sports growing up (and still active) and was always that girl giving other people back rubs.  I just really enjoyed making people feel better and I seemed to have a knack for it.  I never really thought I wanted to get paid to do it.

Well, there I was out of undergrad, working at a restaurant, and really having no idea what I wanted to do with my life (just knowing I didn’t want to serve forever).  Boulder College of Massage Therapy was a school that was close with an impeccable reputation.  I thought, what the hell?  Why not try it?  It was a leap of faith.  I loved it!!  Being from a family of doctors and never really connecting with western medicine, it was like a light bulb went on.  I found my way to help people in their healing process.

What a cool thing touch is…so simple yet so profound.  We all need it and crave it (being social animals).  What we know about the human body changes all the time.  We find new and exciting things about how we work every day!  The holistic way that massage brings everything together from our bodies, to our minds, to our emotions.

Everything is connected, everything.  I like making a connection with people and allowing their bodies and minds the safe space to do what it needs to find balance and heal.
